For Spring break we decided to do something “local” that would be fun and educational.  After many years of driving past Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestowne we decided it would be the perfect Spring break destination.  Our first day of Spring break we drove to Colonial Williamsburg on Friday.  Since we didn’t buy admission to the demonstrations we walked around the colonial town and it was nice, but the kids found it boring.

Saturday morning we got up and drove to Jamestown Settlement.  Jamestowne Settlement is a recreation of the original English settlement in Jamestowne, VA.  In the afternoon we visited the Historic Jamestowne site.  This is the actual grounds of Jamestowne.  There was a very interesting tour of the archeological site, but since it was rainy they were not doing an excavating that day.

Sunday we got drove to the Yorktown battlefield and saw the actual trenches that the George Washington and his troops used to defeat the British.  We then went back to Historic Jamestowne to watch a glass blowing demonstration.
